Together We Learn
Together We Learn (TWL) is a dual generation educational program serving young children under the age of 5 and their parents.
Together We’re Better
This program takes our best education and parenting resources into underserved areas by providing critical services to adults and children.
After School Program
Our after school program serves up to 75 students during the school year. The program serves students four days a week and the focus is on building the reading skills of underserved students in grade levels PreK through 4th grade.
Summer Camp
This program focuses on providing students with 8-weeks of engaging activities focused on reading, math and science in addition to building swimming skills and enjoying a field trip to area attractions such as The Perot Museum.

The CCD Bachman Lake location houses the Together We Learn program, serving the youngest members of our community and their parents and caretakers through a uniquely designed program bolstering early childhood education.

Cardinal Farrell Community Center
The CCD Cardinal Farrell Community Center serves the youngest members of our community through after-school education, summer camp opportunities, and a uniquely designed program bolstering early childhood education.

Office hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Pioneering a better future through education
Educational Services at Catholic Charities Dallas addresses the needs in our community specifically in terms of early childhood education, parenting, and generational learning. In Dallas county, only about 50% of the 5-year-olds who enter kindergarten are actually prepared to learn, and it is our goal to prepare these young children and their parents for their educational future.
At Educational Services at CCD, we recognize that each family, each person, each community is different. We don’t just want to make a difference in our community, we want to address the specific needs of that community and meet them where they are. Catholic Charities Dallas contains a variety of different services, and through our comprehensive agency we are able to help families who come to us in a multitude of ways. If a family arrives seeking early learning, they may also reveal their need for help with immigration, financial stability, and/or food security. We can refer them inside our agency, and ensure them relief quickly and personally.

The National Accreditation Commission provides a comprehensive, ongoing quality improvement system that recognizes quality programs.
Dallas After School Network recognized and certified the Cardinal Farrell Community Center Afterschool Program as a high-quality afterschool program based on 10 different high quality elements and best practices.
The Texas Health and Humans Services Child-Care Licensing Division is responsible for protecting the health, safety, and well being of children who attend or reside in regulated child-care facilities and homes.
Education Programs
Together We Learn
Together We Learn (TWL) is a dual generation educational program serving young children under the age of 5 and their parents. TWL is a 5-day a week, high quality early learning program focused on maximizing the educational potential of every young child through engaging literacy based lessons and activities. The program is Texas School Ready certified with experienced and qualified early childhood teachers who are responsive to the comprehensive needs of young children and their families. TWL is a powerful program with a family centered approach to ensure school readiness for young children and empower parents for school advocacy, proficiency of the English language and workforce skills.
Together We’re Better
Our second program is called Together We’re Better; this free program is a mobile, minimized approach to Together We Learn. In just 16 weeks, we cover needs in local communities and bring our services right to them. Families come to the designated center two times a week and learn about (1) early childhood education and (2) parenting classes, and (3) engage with case managers if their children need to be screened for learning disabilities. If the family is dealing with an obstacle such as inability to pay rent, job loss, depression, or anything else (4) we help them meet their needs. With Together We’re Better, we provide early childhood education in the communities we are most needed, focused on children under 5 years of age. We feel we can make a different with families in 16 weeks and that this approach will allow us to have more outreach in those highest need communities. Our goal is to serve at least 1,000 people in one year by moving into different low-income, high need communities every 16 weeks.
After-School Program
Afterschool Program is focused on building the reading skills of underserved students in grade levels PreK through 4th grade. Each student can receive up to 480 minutes of academic support each week. The academic support is focused on homework assistance and more importantly effective reading interventions.
Summer Camp
Summer Camp is a reading skills building and enrichment program for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. This program focuses on providing students with 8-weeks of individualized and small group reading interventions. This summer camp includes a partnership with the YMCA who provides swimming and water safety lessons.
Program Impact
Our Educational Services program at Catholic Charities Dallas is unique because of the intentionality which we bring to our variety of services. We research how best to help each unique community we engage with, and we are very focused when we consider how our services may affect each different group of people and each different culture.
