June 2021

Hello, my name is Mike Murray, and I am the Chief Development Officer of Catholic Charities Dallas. I am often asked what my favorite part of my job is, and the answer is always easy – the people.

You – our donors, volunteers, boards and committees, and Angels and Archangels auxiliary members. It is a joy and an inspiration to witness successful, busy, experienced people live out their faith by giving of themselves, their time, and their wealth to serve others.

There are many ways to engage with Catholic Charities, our mission, and our clients and I promise – you will be truly rewarded.

Start off easy with a tour of our Central Services Center or other facilities – like either St. Jude housing center, Jan Pruitt food pantry or the Brady Senior Center. We would love to visit with you over lunch or coffee or welcome you to our Hope Starts Here tour and lunch. You will visit with our committed staff and even hear from clients – but be careful – you will be moved.

Volunteer – The absolute best way to engage. See the mission on the ground and witness the dedication and passion of our staff and volunteers and the gratitude and warmth of our clients. You will help distribute meals to 400 families in three hours, care for hundreds of seniors, and teach children how to read.

Give – Every mission must be funded and ours is big and growing: 33 programs, 10 service areas, 7 service sites totaling a budget of $20M. You can give small or big, general or to your favorite program. Please consider visiting with us about a generous gift to our mission.

Events – We have several, they are a lot of fun and they build a community of people with a common purpose. We have a beautiful women’s lunch in May, an inspiring men’s breakfast in October and a big blast of a Gala on February 5th of 2022.

The Angels of Charity is our women’s auxiliary of hundreds of caring women who run our Christmas gift distribution, volunteer in untold ways, raise money and spread the word about Catholic Charities to the broader community. They would love for you to join them.

The Archangels is the men’s auxiliary. They collect hundreds of thousands of pounds of food every year for our pantries, help with numerous projects and host a terrific speaker event every fall.

Mission Advisory Councils, affectionally know as MAC’s, are a group of people like yourself who care about our mission and offer their experience, counsel, and ideas on a regular basis to specific service areas of the agency.

There is a ton to do, and we cannot do it ourselves. People are the lifeblood of any organization and your time, experience, talent, generosity, ideas, and compassion are absolutely critical to fulfilling our mission to serve all of those in need.

Please consider engaging with Catholic Charities Dallas, we need your help. Thank you and God bless.
