In Person Opportunities
The Brady Senior Program at Marillac is a place for seniors to continue to grow through their later years while keeping their minds, bodies, and spirits active in the community. All volunteers must be fully cleared through Safe Environment.
- Bingo Caller: Our Bingo Games are a highlight of the week and just a little competitive. Seniors often win home essentials (detergent, paper towels, housewares) that help them stretch tight budgets a little further and “sweet nothings” (word search books, bath/self-care goodies) that provide uplift and needed nurturing. Bingo is called in Spanish and in English every Friday from 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM. Come a half hour early or stay a bit later to make bags for next week’s prizes!
- Food Handler: We serve our seniors hot nutritious meals every day. This volunteer position serves food to seniors for breakfast and or lunch daily, as well as assist kitchen staff in any preparation necessary for getting food ready and out on time.
The International Foster Care (IFC) Program is part of the Catholic Charities Dallas Children’s Services department. IFC provides long-term foster care and intensive, wraparound case management services for unaccompanied children (UC) and unaccompanied refugee minors (URM).
- Youth Mentor As a CCD Volunteer Mentor, you are directly working to support IFC youth. Your service as a volunteer mentor enables us to empower our youth to make positive life choices by giving them guidance and support. With help like yours, our youth will be able to reach their academic, career, and personal goals.
This program at CCD makes strategic efforts to reach out to those who struggle to make ends meet. Our goal is to empower the community with financial knowledge not only in a classroom setting but through individual coaching. By covering everything from simple budgeting to how to purchase a home, each student learns life skills that can be used immediately to better his or her life. All volunteers must be fully cleared through Safe Environment.
- First-Time Homebuyers Educators: Volunteer to present a Homebuyers class. Schedules vary
- Financial Education Facilitators: Main duties will consist of facilitating financial literacy workshops that cover various topics such as credit, debt, and money management, savings and investment options, and safe financial products and services. A presentation, materials, and training will be provided beforehand to assist with the process of teaching in a classroom style. It also includes assisting students with the development of their individual spending plans during class time or other exercises as relevant to the topic. This volunteer will keep track of attendance at each class and assist with facilitating an assessment for individual progress.
Partner with CCD in providing hunger relief to individuals who have been affected by the COVID-19 global crisis. Provide courteous and excellent service to CCD clients while assisting at one of our Food Pantries. Volunteers are needed Monday-Saturday at various times available. Immigration Legal Services (ILS) of Catholic Charities Dallas was established in 1975 in response to the growing number of immigrants moving to the North Texas area. Program caseworkers are committed to help individuals understand the immigration law and to know their rights under the law. All volunteer opportunities require Full Safe Environment Clearance.
- Citizenship Instructors: A citizenship instructor works as a teacher for people who are going through the naturalization process to obtain citizenship. Your job duties in this career depend on student needs and the mission of Catholic Charities of Dallas. Often, you provide ESL instruction or education for legal permanent residents (LPRs) to help them prepare for citizenship. Your responsibilities may include lesson planning (provided by us), assessing student needs, and assisting students to adjust to life in a new country. You may work with the lead teacher at Catholic Charities of Dallas to ensure that your LPR students adequately prepare for the citizenship exams. Volunteers needed at various times. Evenings and weekends available.
- Citizenship Workshop: Assist with weekly citizenship workshops by helping screen potential applicants, assist in completing the citizenship form, and prepare packets for mailing. By helping immigrants apply for citizenship, we are assisting them to reach their last goal in their immigration process. Many citizens are able to get better wages and provide a better life for their families. The process is complex and long and being able to assist them is a great experience and with a positive outcome. Volunteers are needed Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM shifts available. Saturday opportunities are available.
Virtual Opportunities
The International Foster Care (IFC) Program is part of the Catholic Charities Dallas Children’s Services department. IFC provides long-term foster care and intensive, wraparound case management services for unaccompanied children (UC) and unaccompanied refugee minors (URM). The primary goal of the program is family reunification. When this is not possible, IFC helps to support the youth in adjusting to life in America while preserving the youth’s culture and preparing the youth for successful, independent lives. All volunteers must be fully cleared through Safe Environment and cleared through Prasiduim.
- Virtual Tutor: Your role in this position is integral and critical in supporting the youth, foster parents, and the IFC program. Tutors are matched with specific youth and provide assistance with learning and practicing English, improving reading/writing skills, and help in overall educational development across core school subjects.
Disaster Relief and Preparedness Services is a holistic program designed to address the immediate and long-term needs of victims of natural disasters. Trained case managers provide relief in the form of financial and material aid, employment assistance, long-term recovery plan development, and help to find temporary and permanent housing. All volunteer opportunities require Full Safe Environment Clearance.
- Zoom Grant Application: Our Disaster Services program continues to work hard in assisting clients that come to CCD for COVID relief financial assistance. In this role, you will help clients complete their online applications for financial relief and upload appropriate documents into the database. Days/time: An ongoing weekly commitment of at least 4 hours (includes weekends and evenings.
- Voicemail Transcribers: We have received an overwhelming amount of voicemails due to Hurricane Ida. Help the case management team by transcribing and returning phone calls.

In the office of Development and Marketing, our goal is to fully, timely and consistently fund the budgets, projects, and programs of Catholic Charities Dallas through major gifts, event revenue, grants, campaigns, planned giving, and marketing/branding. All volunteers must be fully cleared through Safe Environment.
- Spanish Translator: Help the Marketing Team translate English to Spanish so that we can reach a wider audience. Days/time: A commitment of at least 2-5 hours per week for a length of at least 6 months

Internship Opportunities
Disaster Services serves to stabilize and promote the return to self-sufficiency for families impacted by disasters. Interns will assist the disaster team to offer great assistance to clients that have been affected by a disaster. Disaster interns will get experience speaking and working with clients in desperate need and will better understand the struggles and resources available to families going through a disaster. All interns must complete Safe Environment Clearance.

This content creator will be responsible for taking staff-collected stories or service information and forming it into a captivating, inspiring, and easy-to-digest blog/story for the community to understand the mission of Catholic Charities Dallas. Most of the information given will consist of client stories — first-hand testimonies of how CCD services impacted a person. These will potentially be posted on our website and distributing to major donors as seen fit. All interns must complete Safe Environment Clearance.

In compliance with the safety and clearance procedures with the Diocese of Dallas, interns will have to complete the entire volunteer screening process for Catholic Charities Dallas. Please note that all interns who wish to interact with the children must complete a separate set of clearance procedures which includes a TB test and FBI fingerprinting. This is to further ensure the safety of the children we work with.

As an intern for Financial Stability and Career Services, you will be providing services directly to clients. This can include helping the Program Manager with data entry, reviewing financial assistance forms, contacting clients to provide resources, and marketing and coordinating Financial Literacy classes. Living up to our calling to welcome the stranger, we aim to let no one go hungry in our diocesan service area. In this effort, we strive to address this basic human need for every walk of life without judgment and without expectation.
Our program is particularly pertinent given so many in the Dallas area are food-insecure; we currently have over 25 food pantries all over Dallas that include community pantries and mobile food trucks, all under the umbrella of the Catholic Charities Dallas food program. Your awareness of this problem and willingness to assist in addressing it directly contributes to a greater solution! All interns must complete Safe Environment Clearance.

The Summer Associate is responsible for counseling clients regarding their immigration matters, managing their client’s cases, and assisting Staff Attorneys in preparing briefs and cases for court hearings. Position: Parish & Community Relations Intern (Unpaid)

Position Description:
This position falls under the Parish & Community Relations Department at Catholic Charities Dallas. This department shares resources and communicates with every Parish in the Diocese of Dallas. The goal of this position will be to help create, market and share information about CCD to the 77 parishes across the 9 counties that we serve. Items will include creating printed items such as bulletin inserts, informational packets, flyers and items for community outreach booths as well as virtual resources, such updating our website page.

Evaluation
Your supervisor will hold regular one-on-one meetings with you (as well as team meetings) to discuss growth, goals, and development. This internship is an excellent way to both develop and demonstrate your skills, as well as a chance to grow as a professional individual through receiving feedback on your performance and areas of growth. You will be asked to self-evaluate regularly and keep track of your tasks.
