Did you know that April is National Foster Care Month? We would like to take this opportunity to highlight some of the foster care programs we offer here at Catholic Charities.
Our Children’s Services team provides daily care, supervision, and case management services to eligible unaccompanied immigrant and refugee youth.
Our top priority is reunifying children with their families as quickly and safely as possible. When this is not an option, we seek permanent and supportive relationships for our youth and equip them with the skills needed for successful lives in adulthood.
We are able to provide these services with your help, and the outstanding work of our awesome Children’s Services team. Hannah Hull is the Foster Home Developer at CCD. Our international foster care program provides foster care and independent living placement to youth in our program, aged primarily 14-21. The program relies on engagement from a wide range of community members including foster parents, mentors, tutors, and host homes.
Hannah’s job includes providing support and coaching to our foster parents to ensure placement stability for our youth. Through regular check-ins and monthly home visits, she helps them stay in compliance with standards and policies so they can focus on parenting our youth. This is done by providing trainings, encouraging them in self-care practice, or just sitting and talking through a situation. Without our foster parents, we could not do this important and meaningful work.
If you or someone you know is interested in becoming an international foster parent in the DFW area, please first complete an intake process form linked through the button below. To clarify, we do not currently offer domestic foster care, yet we are excited to help these refugee children find supportive homes. As always, for more volunteer opportunities related to any of these services, contact our volunteer team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you! We wish you a very joyous Easter! Until next time.
