December 2022

Hello! My name is Lacy de la Garza, and I currently serve as the Director of Parish and community relations for Catholic Charities Dallas.

It is hard to believe another year has come and gone already! Reflecting on this past year, we were able to accomplish so much for our community. This would not have been possible without the help of our Diocesan parishes.

Thank you so much to all of you who have volunteered with us, hosted classes, and participated in our mobile food drops. It is through our work together that we can continue to work towards our mission of serving, educating, and empowering all those in need.

There are two things we are especially grateful for:

A special thanks to the parishes that participated in our Speakers Bureau this year.  This is when a speaker shares information from the pulpit about Catholic Charities resources, and we provide a table after Mass with more information.  Depending on the needs of the parish, sometimes we focus on general information, and sometimes our goal is to share about a specific need.

This year, we visited St. Martin of Tours to share information about Catholic Charities after Mass, as well as Holy Trinity in Dallas, Holy Family in Irving, and Our Lady of Angels in Allen to talk about International Foster Care recruitment.  Thank you!

Next year we would love to have even more parishes participate in our Speakers Bureau so we can come out to see you! For more information about how to get the Speakers Bureau out to your parish, please contact Devyn Buschow at dbuschow@ccdallas.org.

Another special thanks goes to parishes that have shared our information with your parishioners in parish bulletins, flocknotes, and other communication avenues. This way parishioners have easy access to a variety of services if they are in need and can stay aware of volunteer opportunities if they are interested in volunteering with any of our programs.

Parish involvement is so important to us here at Catholic Charities. We deeply appreciate all that you do to help us serve.

From all of us here at Catholic Charities, we wish you a prayerful advent season and a very Merry Christmas! See you in the New Year!
