March 2023

Spring is the season of new life, and we would like to encourage you to support life in our Dallas community by taking advantage of the pro-life and pro-family resources provided by Catholic Charities. Today we’re focusing on our pregnancy crisis counseling, parenting classes, and adoption services.

Parenting classes are offered through our Parenting in Action Program, where we assist families who are currently pregnant or have recently had a child. Weekly parenting classes are offered every Thursday at the Catholic Charities Mockingbird location in both English and Spanish, and material assistance is provided to attendees.

Some of our own parishes including, St. Ann’s Parish in Coppell, and both St. Jude and Our Lady of Angels Parish in Allen are graciously hosting our CCD parenting classes.

Here is our current class schedule:

  • Catholic Charities Dallas: Thursdays 9:00 a.m. Spanish, 11:00 a.m. English
  • St. Ann Parish – Coppell – 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month – 11:00 a.m .- 12:00 p.m.
  • St. Jude Parish- Allen – 3rd Tuesday of each month – 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Our Lady of Angels Parish – Allen – 1st Tuesday of each month – 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

  • Jubilee Park and Community Center – Dallas- 3rd Saturday of each month – 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

If your parish is interested in hosting a class, please contact Sheri Reynolds at sreynolds@ccdallas.org or 214-526-2772.

Next, we also offer adoption services in two ways: the first is infant adoption and the second is what’s called our Finally Home program. Did you know we are the only Catholic adoption agency in the state of Texas?

Our infant adoption program provides assistance for both birth parents and prospective adoptive parents so babies can receive the care they need. We work together in order to match babies with loving families.

For older children, our Finally Home Program allows children in the custody of the Department of Family and Protective Services to be placed in permanent adoptive homes. These children are generally over the age of 6 and are sometimes adopted as sibling groups.

Related to this, we offer pregnancy counseling. Kelley Harms serves as the Pregnancy/Options Counselor here at Catholic Charities Dallas. Her role includes helping any person experiencing an unplanned pregnancy explore their options.  Crisis pregnancy counseling is available 24/7 by contacting our hotline at 214-557-5286.

Kelley is also available to come speak more about adoption and pregnancy options as a training to your parish, whether for staff, volunteers, or parishioners.  Our goal is to help expectant parents make the best decisions for their families, and we know that it takes a committed community in order to support pregnant parents in need.

Feel free to reach out to Kelley to learn more, or schedule a visit, at kharms@ccdallas.org or 214-526-2772.

For more information about our adoption services, we encourage you to contact us through the Catholic Charities website. From there, you will be provided with information on the next orientation and on the adoption process.

For volunteer opportunities related to any of these services, please contact our volunteer team at  volunteer@ccdallas.org.

Thank you! Until next time.
