September 2022

Hello! I’m Lacy de la Garza, the Director of Parish and Community Relations here at Catholic Charities Dallas.

Every September, we have the opportunity to celebrate Grandparents’ Day.  This month we are sharing more about the CCD Senior Services program, serving individuals age 55 and over, many of whom are grandparents!

At the Brady Senior Center, we serve an underserved and growing senior population who reside within an 8-mile radius of the center, mainly inclusive of zip code 75211. We offer these seniors a variety of fun and creative activities, as well as mental and physical activities to keep their minds sharp, maintain their independence, and provide a safe place to enjoy hot meals and community.

Located in West Dallas at the CCD Marillac Center adjacent to Our Lady of Lourdes parish, seniors can gather every weekday for crafts, dancing, lotería (Bingo), and meals.  We know that community is important. It remains important to us to offer this space, service, and camaraderie to help seniors gather together.

We share this with you today for two reasons: to refer and to serve!

First, if you would like more information on the services, program, or service area of the Brady Senior Center, or if you would like to guide a parishioner to receive services from our center, feel free to call 214-826-8335. We can also arrange a tour of the facility for you or your staff if you’d like to see us in action.

Second, we are always looking for on-site volunteers to assist with our activities on weekday mornings or off-site volunteers to create activity packs or gifts for our seniors to receive during their time with Brady.  We love receiving Bingo prizes such as word searches or wallets, as well as hygiene items like small laundry detergent bottles or shampoo!  Please reach out to volunteer@ccdallas.org for more information.

Thanks for your support and see you next month!
