Hi! I’m Kelsey Stanley, Volunteer Program Manager at Catholic Charities Dallas.
We hope you are all enjoying this exciting season of Advent. This year our volunteers answered the call to serve our community’s most vulnerable by serving over 50,000 hours in our programs! We are so grateful to those who have served, but there is still more work to do.
1. Our International Foster Care program is looking for tutors to support foster children in their care. Tutors are matched with specific youth and help them practice English, improve reading and writing skills, and additional core school subjects.
2. We continuously need volunteers at our Mobile Food Pantry at Our Lady of San Juan de los Lagos. Please consider helping our onsite staff members Tuesday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
3. We will be hosting a Citizenship Workshop on January 7 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Network of Community Ministries. Volunteers will help by screening potential applicants, assisting clients in completing the citizenship form, and preparing packets for mailing. In Isaiah 58:10 we are reminded, “If you lavish your food on the hungry and satisfy the afflicted; Then your light shall rise in the darkness, and your gloom shall become like midday.” I invite each and every one of you to shine your light on your neighbors by sharing your gifts this Advent season.
