November 2022

Hi! I’m Kelsey Stanley, Volunteer Program Manager at Catholic Charities Dallas.

As we enter the season of giving, it is crucial to remember the members of our community who have experienced homelessness and may not have loved ones to share the holidays with. At CCD, we work hard to create safe environments for over 200 individuals in our St. Jude Centers, but we can’t serve them without your help.

There are three ways you can help us this season:

  1. Both St. Jude locations are in need of volunteer barbers to keep our residents looking and feeling their best. If hair care is not your specialty, but you have another skill you would like to share, consider teaching a class! Art, music, and crafts are all great activities that our St. Jude residents get to participate in thanks to our wonderful volunteers.
  2. Don’t feel called to teach but still want to serve our community? We are looking for a reception volunteer at both St. Jude locations. Additionally, St. Jude – Park Central is home to one of our mobile community pantries that bring fresh food to those in need, and we need volunteers to continue to nourish our community.
  3. A group service project is a great way to give back to the community on your own schedule. Many of our center residents are in need of basic hygiene products, and you can help provide them! By assembling hygiene kits either on your own or with a group, you can help our residents stay healthy and well-groomed. For more information on how to assemble these hygiene kits, visit our volunteer page or email volunteer@ccdallas.org.

Our volunteer page is also a good place to look for more volunteer opportunities that best suit your time and talent.

This Thanksgiving season, we at Catholic Charities are especially thankful for all that our volunteers do year-round. We are blessed by your continued support and look forward to serving with you. YOU make our work possible!
