Hi! My name is Kelly Noonan, and I serve as the Chief Development Officer at Catholic Charities Dallas.
February may be the shortest month, but at CCD, we’ve found it to be an incredibly busy month for our hunger services mission.
As a reminder, the goal of this mission is to alleviate hunger and food insecurity in our community. It’s one of our largest programs and has an incredible reach, thanks to our partnership with North Texas Food Bank, our parishes, and our wonderful team of volunteers.
In two thousand twenty-four, we provided over 6 million meals to individuals and families in need. As we moved into the new year, we’ve seen a significant increase in our hunger numbers. Our newest food pantry, Joe’s Pantry, served 1,233 families in January. The same location served 861 families in December. That’s a 33% increase over the last month.
Our mobile sites continue to be a blessing and make over 100 drops around the Diocese of Dallas each month. Our model of 1 truck, 1 driver, thousands served is very effective and allows us to expand our reach further and deeper.
An interesting fact – every Sunday, we post our mobile food distribution schedule on our social media pages. It is, by far, the most engaging piece of information based off the viewing rates and the number of shares. Last Sunday, the post was shared 47 times. In January, we served 1 thousand, 7 hundred, 31 NEW families through our mobile sites alone.
