April 2024

“Time for Giving” is the name of CCD’s annual campaign, centered around the second collection for Catholic Charities at all Masses the weekend of May 4th and 5th.

Our theme, Time for Giving, is inspired by scripture. In the Book of Ecclesiastes, it says, “There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens.” In essence, this verse reminds us to trust in God’s wisdom and timing, even when we don’t fully grasp the reasons behind life’s seasons and changes.

At Catholic Charities, we work with clients who are in all different seasons of life. Many of them are facing changes and challenges that have caused them to reach out to us for help. Our clients trust that we will partner with them during this season of life and help them reach the other side.

Our team is committed to serving our clients and providing hope to thousands and thousands of individuals and families in the 9 counties we serve, but we can’t do it alone. I ask you to please join us in serving, educating, empowering, and most importantly, helping us reach our Time for Giving campaign goal of $155,000.

At Catholic Charities, the need is critical, and the mission is essential. We are educating, housing, feeding, assisting, counseling, adopting, assimilating, fostering, stabilizing, resettling, and advising every single day.

There is nothing like the contagious excitement of a young refugee family as they receive items that transform their new house into a home or the smile on the face of a child as they learn to read alongside their parents. We’re blessed on a regular basis to see the relief in the eyes of a person who no longer needs to worry about what they will eat that day or hear the hearty laugh of a senior who shows up at the Brady Center for art classes and chair fitness. Witnessing the gratitude and peace of a formerly unhoused resident who walks into their newly furnished home at one of our St. Jude properties for the very first time is always so special.

And although it looks a bit different each time, the look of joy is undeniably present in every one of our clients’ lives as they realize their season of life is about to change for good. And yet, there is still so much to do.

It is through Christ’s call and our inspiring stories of joy and hope that I invite you, and ask you, to please give to the mission of Catholic Charities at our second collection the weekend of May 4 and 5.

If you are unable to attend Mass that weekend, please consider setting up a one-time or monthly gift to sustain the programs that benefit so many in need by visiting ccdallas.org/tfg.

Your generosity makes a difference, provides joy, and directly causes immediate, long-term, and vital change in the lives of children, families, and seniors.

On behalf of all those we will serve with your gifts and generosity, thank you! I hope to hear from you soon. Until then, take care, and God bless.
