The CCD Brady Senior Services empowers adults 60 years and older to maintain their independence by providing services that focus on health and wellness for aging adults. Located in West Dallas at the CCD Marillac Community Center, Brady Senior Services offers a safe and loving community for seniors during the week. That community and support doesn’t stop when the doors close. Our client Tim, who has participated in our senior services programs for the last six years, knows that first-hand.
Tim is an artist who spends many hours a day creating colorful masterpieces. He and his brother lived together in Oak Cliff for more than 50 years. Last August, Tim’s brother passed away and their apartment was demolished. In the blink of an eye, Tim became a homeless senior.
The CCD senior services team stepped in right away to support Tim by driving him to the Austin Street Homeless Shelter, working with their team to secure a spot for Tim. From there, the CCD and Austin Street case managers worked together to find a permanent home for Tim. The case managers were successful, and Tim quickly had a new apartment to call home. He was so grateful to have his own place and especially loved that his new apartment included an outside patio. Tim’s case manager was with him when he saw his apartment for the first time and recalls that he was the happiest she had ever seen him in that moment.
Thanks to your support, Tim has a roof over his head and space to create his art that he loves to share with his friends, volunteers, and CCD staff members.
